Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is created to make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on all proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, Zoning Map, or the comprehensive plan text or maps. Applications that are reviewed by the Planning Commission include rezonings, special land use permits, comprehensive plan amendments, and text amendments.

Qualifications

  • Must be a City of Tucker resident.
  • Desirable to have training in fields such as planning, development, architecture, law, civil engineering, geology, economics, or demography.

Membership: The Planning Commission shall consist of seven (7) members. Members of the Planning Commission are appointed for 2-year terms. When staggering is required, positions are filled for a 1-year term.

Meeting Information:  The Planning Commission meets the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, located at 1975 Lakeside Parkway, Suite 350B. All meetings are open to the public and anyone is welcome to attend. Meeting preparations include site visits and the review of staff reports, application materials, and other associated documents for each case/issue. Depending on the complexity of the case and technical components associated with it, the preparation time could be considerable.         

Staff Advisor: The Planning and Zoning Director or his/her designee shall serve as secretary to the Planning Commission.
