City Council Wrap-Up December 19, 2016

On Monday night, City Council held a special called meeting to discuss a pair of annexation requests, as well as to take a final vote on a utilities agreement.

The first annexation was for the Westwood neighborhood and adjacent Wanda Woods off Chamblee Tucker Road in unincorporated DeKalb County. Petitions were circulated, garnering enough resident signatures to exceed the 60 percent threshold needed for annexation.

The second annexation was requested by the owner of the Shell gas station at the intersection of Lavista Road and Parklake Drive NE.

Both the annexations passed by 6-0 votes on second reading.

Additionally, City Council voted 6-0 to grant Atlanta Gas Light the right and franchise to use roads, alleys, parks and other public places in Tucker to do construction and maintenance work needed to serve their customers in the city. In exchange, the city will collect a franchise fee from the utility.
