TUCKER, Ga. (April 25, 2018) – To kick off their week of community engagement activities, the City of Tucker is sponsoring its first-ever Free Health Screening Event at Tucker Recreation Center. The event, which will take place on Monday May 7 from 4-8 p.m., will be open to people of all ages from around the area who want to get more information on their health.
The City is partnering with the Mercer University College of Pharmacy to have medical students on hand to perform general screenings. Volunteers from the Tucker Lavista Lions Club will provide vision screenings. Staff from Tucker’s Sage Dental location will offer information on keeping a healthy set of teeth and gums.
“This is something we have wanted to do for a long time,” said Sonja Szubski, Tucker’s City-Community Connector, who organized the event. “Health is a key component to any thriving community. Here in Tucker, we hope these partnerships will enable anyone who can’t afford basic medical services to begin to think about their health.”
The Free Health Screening Event will kick off the City’s week of Tucker Days activities, leading up to the volunteer-run Tucker Day celebration on Saturday May 12.
