TUCKER, Ga. (February 1, 2019) – The City of Tucker wants to make sure seniors in the area are feeling the love this Valentine’s Day. That’s why the City’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the first-ever Valentine’s Day Social for Seniors. The event will feature live jazz music, dancing and lunch from longtime Tucker favorite Old Hickory House.
“We have been working closely with our senior population to offer activities to keep them active and engaged with their peers around the community,” says Tucker Recreation Leader Crystal Dawson. “Valentine’s Day can be lonely for some seniors. So, we wanted to bring everyone together, whether they’re part of a couple or flying solo, this event will be inclusive and fun for all.”
The party will happen from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tucker Recreation Center. Tickets are $10 for singles and $15 for couples. They can be purchased in advance or on the day of the event at Tucker Recreation Center.
Acclaimed musician Taufeeq Wright will provide the backdrop for the event with his unique mix of beloved jazz standards. The music is being presented through the generosity of corporate partner Humana. The City of Tucker assumed responsibility for Tucker Recreation Center from DeKalb County in 2018. The building, originally built as an elementary school in the 1950s, is currently a hub for a diverse offering of classes, programs and community activities, as well as being a popular location for television and film productions. It is located at 4898 Lavista Road.
