Statement from Mayor Frank Auman on Impending Winter Weather

“I’ve just received an update from the National Weather Service this morning on the winter weather that has made its way into North Georgia. The good news is their meteorologists are forecasting that most of the heavy snow will fall well to the north and west of Tucker. While we hope that ultimately is the case, Tucker is still under a Winter Weather Advisory. Meteorologists say temperatures will drop below freezing tonight, meaning any precipitation we get today – whether rain or light snow – will freeze on the roads after dark creating the threat of black ice. In light of that, I’d like to urge Tucker residents to stay off the roads late tonight into tomorrow morning.

Our partners at DeKalb County and GDOT have coordinated on a plan to treat interstates, bridges and overpasses. Much of that work began last night. Still, slick conditions on surface streets can be dangerous, even deadly. Please make safety your priority as we get through this winter weather event.”
