Community Council to Hear Development Plans for Sears Site

the-Rise-PlansTUCKER, Ga. (May 2, 2017) – Tucker’s Community Council next week will hear a developer’s revised plans for an 88-acre piece of land situated on the old Sears site at Mountain Industrial Blvd. and Hugh Howell Rd.

The mixed-use project is being supported by Macauley Investments, LLC and is tentatively named “The Rise”. Plans call for 192,000 square feet of retail space, 88,000 square feet of office space, 705 housing units, as well as a daycare and an elementary school. Developer Stephen Macauley withdrew a similar plan at a City Council meeting in January.

Meeting with Tucker’s Community Council is the first step in the City review process. Community Council members will be able to question the developer, as will members of the community who show up to the meeting. After Community Council has a chance to offer its feedback, the plan would then head to Tucker’s Planning Commission, before the City’s decision-making body – the City Council – gets its chance to hear the proposal.

Detailed plans for this and other projects going through the review process are available on the City of Tucker website. All meetings are scheduled to happen at the new City Hall Annex at 4228 First Avenue.
