A: Depending on call volume, DeKalb Police will respond to noise complaints at all hours of the night. On a first complaint, officers typically will talk with both parties involved to rectify the situation amicably. If there is a second call in the same night, or if there is an ongoing noise issue at a residence, officers can issue a citation to the homeowner/resident.

A: According to city of Tucker and DeKalb County ordinance, pets cannot vocalize (bark) for more than 15 minutes without interruption or for more than 30 minutes if the noise is intermittent. If the noise occurs during the overnight hours, residents can take audio or video recordings, documenting the date, time and duration. They can then turn that evidence over to Tucker’s code enforcement officer, who will issue a notice of violation.
