City-Council-May-14-18

City Council gathered for its first May meeting on Monday night, holding four public hearings covering a range of issues.

The first hearing dealt with a rezoning petition that would allow 15 single-family homes along Cooledge Road between Sarahs Lane and Mary Anna Drive. The development is seeking a change from the R-75 zoning to the higher-density RSM zoning.

Next, Council heard discussion on a Special Land Use Permit, requested for the purpose of allowing Warrior Body Spa to relocate to 2298 Brockett Road. That was followed by a rezoning petition to allow for a 205,000 square-foot furniture distribution warehouse at 4473 Sarr Parkway. Lastly, there was a public hearing to discuss a Special Land Use Permit for a mixed-use, 245-unit multi-family development on Northlake Parkway. All four of the public hearings are scheduled for second reads and final votes at the City Council meeting on May 29.

Earlier in the meeting, Mayor Auman issued a proclamation declaring May to be Building Safety Awareness Month in the City of Tucker. Council also voted 6-0 to approve a resolution by Tucker Civic Association to adopt the lifelong community principles of promoting housing and transportation options, encouraging healthy lifestyles and expanding access to information and services.

The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday May 29 at 7 p.m. at the City Hall Annex (4228 First Avenue).
