City Council Wrap Up – September 9, 2019

Tucker’s Mayor and City Council gathered Monday night for a work session and meeting, their first official business of September. The major issue discussed was the adoption of the City’s Transportation Master Plan. Council held a second read and public hearing on the document, which will guide transportation decisions in the City for years to come. Council voted unanimously to adopt the Master Plan as part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The vote includes several amendments to the original plan, including changing plans for Cooledge Road from a four-lane road to a two-lane complete street.

Council also voted unanimously to approve a contract with Southeastern Services and Equipment to install multi-purpose flooring in the gymnasium at Tucker Recreation Center. The materials and installation will come at a cost of $98,598.

Lastly, Council considered an amendment to the Fiscal Year ’19 budget. The amendment is the result of the Finance Department completing their accounting for the year. It was approved on a unanimous vote.

The Mayor and City Council will meet next on September 23 at the City Hall Annex (4228 First Avenue). They will hold a work session at 5:30 p.m. followed by a meeting at 7 p.m. Both will be open to the public.
