City Council Wrap Up – March 18, 2020

Special Called City Council meeting, March 18, 2020.

Tucker’s Mayor and City Council gathered Wednesday night for a special called meeting at the City Hall Annex. The meeting was organized for the purpose of discussing emergency powers in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

Council voted unanimously to adopt an Emergency Management and Services Ordinance (O2020-03-08) granting the Mayor certain powers in times of emergency, detailing coordination with the DeKalb Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), allowing leeway to waive procedures and fees, and outlining procedures for instituting curfews. The ordinance will take effect immediately.

They then approved a formal declaration of local emergency in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

All seven councilmembers were present at the meeting, two in person and five over the telephone. The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday March 23 at 7 p.m. The format of that meeting has yet to be determined.
