Multifamily Code Compliance
Certificate Process for Multifamily Buildings

On June 27, 2018, the City of Tucker passed an ordinance that requires multi-family rental dwellings of four (4) or more units to be inspected for compliance with adopted codes. The new multi-family inspection program is designed to:

  • Preserve property values, promote economic vitality and crime prevention, and ensure safe, healthy, and clean environments; and
  • Promote ongoing investment in upkeep and maintenance.

Per the City of Tucker Code of Ordinances Section 10-518, 10-519, 10-520 properties must be inspected by a Certified Building Inspector, and a Certificate of Compliance certifying the units pass inspection must be submitted annually with the renewal of the required Occupational Tax Certificate.  At least 20 percent of units within a multifamily development shall be inspected annually, so that 100% of the units are inspected over a five-year period.
