TUCKER, Ga. (August 8, 2018) – The City of Tucker Parks and Recreation Department announced Wednesday a free two-week trial for families interested in enrolling their students in the After School Program at Tucker Recreation Center. The program, which typically costs $65 per week per student, includes transportation from school, supervised care, activities and an afternoon snack.
“We’re trying to think outside the box a little bit in getting students in the door,” explained Tucker Recreation Leader and After School Program Director Crystal Dawson. “Enrollment was a little low for this first week back and we just figured, if no one else is trying it for free, what better way than to expose families to the great environment we have here at Tucker Rec.”
The free enrollment offer applies to students the weeks of August 13 and August 20. Parents who are interested can email Crystal Dawson at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at (470) 481-0143. The first 60 students submitting completed applications will receive the free offer.
The City of Tucker has conducted its After School Program in cooperation with the staff and expertise of the Wade Walker YMCA since January 2018, shortly after the City assumed responsibility for its Recreation Center from DeKalb County. The program serves students from Brockett, Henderson Mill, Idlewood, Livsey, Midvale and Smoke Rise Elementary Schools, as well as Tucker Middle School.
