Tucker's "Movie on Main" Event Rescheduled for August 2

Movie-on-Main-8-2-2019TUCKER, Ga. (July 8, 2019) – When Mother Nature interfered with the City of Tucker’s popular Movie on Main event last month, a make-up date was quickly promised. After collaboration between vendors, sponsors and City leaders, the event has been rescheduled for Friday August 2.

“We were so disappointed to have to move our movie night indoors,” says City-Community Connector Sonja Szubski of the June 7 event. “But there’s nothing quite like watching a movie under the stars on Main Street, so we knew we had to make it up to the community. We think August 2 is going to be a lot of fun and the perfect way to head into the back to school weekend.”

Unlike with past movie events, the City is giving residents the opportunity to pick the film they’ll watch on August 2. From July 15-21, people can go to the City of Tucker’s Facebook page to vote between The Lego Movie 2 (rated PG) and Captain Marvel (rated PG-13). The winning movie will be announced on Monday July 22.

Regardless of the film title being shown, moviegoers will be treated to free popcorn and a free drink from Village Burger. They can also test their skill in an inflatable batting cage set up in the middle of Main Street.

Movie on Main was supposed to be the kickoff to the beloved TKR Summer of Fun series. Thousands of people enjoyed the fireworks throughout downtown Tucker last week at the Celebration of Independence and Fireworks Spectacular. On August 6, hundreds more are expected at Brockett Elementary School for a free community cookout at National Night Out.

The TKR Summer of Fun series is sponsored by Jacobs Engineering, Discover DeKalb and the Old Town Tucker Merchants Association (OTTMA). Event sponsors for Movie on Main are Village Burger and Infinite Realities: Comics, Games and More.
