Cofer Bros. Receives Second Annual Mayor's Business Award

TUCKER, Ga. (October 15, 2019) – Mayor Frank Auman presented his second annual Mayor’s Business Award Tuesday to ownership of Cofer Bros. The family owned and operated building material supply company is celebrating its centennial this month; 100 years of doing business on Tucker’s Main Street.

“There’s almost not words to describe how incredible an achievement it is that a local business, a family-owned business can serve in a single community for this many years,” Auman told the crowd at a ceremony in the Cofer Bros. lumberyard.

Cofer Bros. began in Tucker in 1919, the brainchild of two brothers who wanted to set up a country store. Since that time, the business has stayed in the family, venturing into building materials, and becoming a staple of Tucker’s Main Street.

“Tucker’s always been so supportive of us,” Cofer Bros. owner Chip Cofer said. “I was always taught by my dad and he was taught by his father how important it is to give back to the community and be a part of the community. Don’t just take, always give back any way you can. So, we always want to be here to help.”

The Mayor’s Business Award is given out annually to a Tucker company that is celebrating a special milestone and actively gives back to the community.
