City of Tucker Unveils New App, Tucker Nostalgia'

TUCKER, Ga. (August 9, 2017) – The City of Tucker GIS Department is stepping into the past in introducing its newest web application. ‘Tucker Nostalgia’ gives users the opportunity to compare current-day maps of the City with a map from more than 100 years ago.

“We’re really excited about the opportunity to provide this unique way of looking back at Tucker’s roots,” explains Tucker GIS Analyst Chris Rice, who created the app.

The app features a sliding bar that allows the user to overlay a 1915 map on top of current GIS mapping of Tucker. The 1915 map was provided to the City by the Tucker Historical Society.

“It’s great to have partners at City Hall who value the rich history of our community,” says Tucker Historical Society President Matthew Lee. “With Tucker flourishing as a regional destination for families and businesses, it’s critical that we preserve the past and share it with younger generations.”

‘Tucker Nostalgia’ is one of a series of free apps that can be found on the City of Tucker website at www.tuckerga.gov.
