Fundraiser Promises Boost for Tucker Treasure

TUCKER, Ga. (February 2, 2017) – Johns Homestead has been a long been one of the most cherished historic preservation sites in Metro Atlanta and now volunteers are hoping to give the Tucker landmark a bit of a boost.

The group, Friends of Johns Homestead Park (FOJHP), is planning to build a 110-foot-long boardwalk at the park that would connect trail systems and offer visitors a wildlife observation deck.

The project comes at an estimated cost of $67,700 and will be funded partially through a grant from Park Pride. To help raise the remainder of the funds, FOJHP is partnering with Tucker mainstay The Garden Enthusiast for a silent auction to take place starting on February 6. The store, located at 2316 Main Street, will have art, home and garden décor and services from local businesses all up for auction through February 18.

Dating back to 1829, the 50-acre park is one of the oldest historic sites in the state of Georgia. To learn more about Johns Homestead and the efforts to preserve it, visit JohnsHomesteadPark.org.
