Keeping Up with DCSD

Community L.E.A.D. Academy

It may be summer, but it is never too early to get involved with DeKalb County Schools. DCSD has created many opportunities for you to stay engaged before the new school year begins August 3.

The Community L.E.A.D. Academy is accepting applications. This is a yearlong leadership experience for participants to learn about DCSD’s operations and how to contribute to students’ success. Meetings are once a month from 10 a.m. to noon September 2026 through April 2027 at the District Administrative Industrial Complex and select schools. Registration is open for 35 to 40 participants who reside in DeKalb County and are at least 21 years old at the time of application. Applicants must submit a short essay outlining their interest in the program and complete a criminal background check.

Applications close August 14, 2026 and the cohort will be announced August 21, 2026.

Four Summer Registration Hubs will be open for families to receive in-person assistance with online registration for the upcoming school year.

The following hubs will be open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.:

  • Chamblee High School July 13 – 14
  • Tucker Middle School July 15 – 16
  • Columbia High School July 20 – 21
  • DeKalb Arts Academy July 22 – 23

Visit dekalbschoolsga.org/divisions/access-and-opportunity/registration/forms to find all necessary forms that must be completed for new student registration.

DCSD’s Back-to-School Rally will be held Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Administrative and Instructional Complex at 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard in Stone Mountain. Families may receive resources like school supplies, connect with community partners and meet peers before the beginning of the school year. Register in advance at survey.sogolytics.com/survey/form
