Fire Marshal

The City of Tucker transitioned the majority of Fire Marshal Services to the DeKalb County Fire and Rescue Department as of May 15, 2026. Going forward, Tucker will continue to provide Certificates of Occupancy for new buildings and/or new businesses and DCFR will provide all other services.

Fire Inspection Requests for Active Permits:

DeKalb Fire is providing fire inspections for all active building, fire suppression, and land development permits. In order to request a fire inspection, you will need to contact the DeKalb County Fire Marshal’s Office per the steps below.

Email: dekalbfmo@dekalbcountyga.gov and cc permits@tuckerga.gov
Subject line: TUCKER Fire Inspection Needed at  “provide project address”
Provide the following information in the body of the email: project type and description, type of inspection needed, any information on previously completed fire inspections, Tucker permit number.

Note that approved building/life safety plans are required to be on site. This is crucial step to ensure DeKalb Fire can complete the required inspections during this transition period. If your approved plans are not on site, DeKalb Fire will not be able to complete the requested inspections.

New Permit Applications:

Moving forward, DeKalb Fire will be providing all fire marshal services except for Business-Certificate of Occupancy (BCO). The City of Tucker must issue each applicant a city services routing sheet before plans can be submitted to DeKalb Fire. Please contact permits@tuckerga.gov for assistance with the permitting process.

Business-Certificate of Occupancy (BCO)

BCO applications are being reviewed and inspected by third party life safety professionals through a partnership with SAFEbuilt.  For questions about this process, please contact bco@tuckerga.gov.
