The Tucker City Marshals Department is a professional law enforcement agency dedicated to protecting the City’s judicial system, municipal facilities, employees, and the public. Staffed by Georgia POST-certified peace officers, the department provides a visible security presence while supporting the safe and efficient operation of City government and the Municipal Court.
The department’s primary responsibilities include providing security for the Tucker Municipal Court, City Hall, the Tucker Recreation Center, and other City-owned facilities and special events. Marshals serve arrest warrants; transport prisoners; money transfers; and work in partnership with the DeKalb County Police Department and other criminal justice agencies to promote public safety.
The Tucker City Marshals Department is committed to professionalism, integrity, accountability, and service. Through proactive security, effective law enforcement, and strong partnerships, the department strives to provide a safe environment for all who live, work, and visit the City of Tucker while supporting the City’s mission of responsive and efficient government.
- The Chief Marshal is appointed by the City Manager or their designee and reports to the City Manager or their designee.
- City Marshal’s responsibilities may include:
- Courtroom and judicial security
- Service of warrants and subpoenas
- Transport of prisoners
- Enforcement of municipal codes
- Provide security at city meetings and/or city properties.
- Provide security at city events, council meetings, parks and recreation, and all other meetings and/or city properties.
- Other duties assigned by the court or city administration
- The City Marshals are certified peace officers under Chapter 8 Title 35 the official code of Georgia Annotated and shall have arrest authority as granted by state law.
