City of Tucker to Honor Service Members at Inaugural Veterans Day Event

November 2, 2026

The City of Tucker invites community members, active-duty service members and veterans to gather for a special Veterans Day ceremony Wednesday, November 11, to recognize and honor the dedicated service of our nation’s veterans.

The event will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Tucker Recreation Center, located at 4898 Lavista Road. Mayor Anne Lerner will deliver the opening remarks, followed by a keynote address from Commander Scott Brady of Tucker’s Joe Pritchett American Legion Post 207. A musical performance by the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band’s Woodwind Quintet, traveling from Fort Benning, GA, will follow.

Established in 1916 as the 283rd Army Center Band and stationed at Fort Benning since 1955, the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band supports between 400 and 600 missions, ceremonies and events annually. In addition to its ceremonial duties and public concerts, the band provides musical support for infantry and armed forces training graduations.

Apart from the event, City of Tucker administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, November 11, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. Normal business hours will resume at 9 a.m. Thursday, November 12.

In addition to the main ceremony on Veterans Day, Tucker’s veterans are invited to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the Mayor and City Council meeting Monday, November 9, at 7 p.m. Those interested in participating should arrive at Tucker City Hall, 1975 Lakeside Parkway, Ste. 350B, by 6:45 p.m. Veterans and their guests are welcome to stay for the remainder of the council meeting or leave following the pledge. For questions regarding the council meeting pledge, contact the City Clerk’s office at cityclerk@tuckerga.gov or 678-597-9040.

The wider Tucker community will also host two additional commemorative events. On Saturday, November 7, Joe Pritchett American Legion Post 207 will host its annual Veterans Day 5K walk/run. Starting at 7 p.m. on Veterans Day, the Boy Scouts of America Troop 129 will honor veterans and conduct its 10th annual flag retirement ceremony at the Scout Hut, 4217 North Park Drive.
