Kregg Zulkeski Announced as Tucker’s New Parks & Recreation Director

The City of Tucker is pleased to announce the selection of Kregg Zulkeski as its next Parks and Recreation Director, following a highly competitive national search. Mr. Zulkeski will officially begin his role with the City on May, 12th.
After a detailed, thorough recruitment process conducted in partnership with Sumter Local Government Consulting, the City received 78 applications, including many from highly qualified candidates across the country. The selection process included multiple stages of evaluation and interviews, with valuable input from the Mayor and City Council, as well as from the Friends of Tucker Parks.

City Manager John McHenry expressed confidence in the selection:
“Kregg brings a strong combination of operational expertise, leadership experience, and a clear passion for community engagement. Throughout the process, he demonstrated the ability to build on Tucker’s strong foundation while bringing innovative ideas to enhance our parks and recreation services. We are excited to welcome him to our leadership team.”
Mr. Zulkeski is an accomplished parks and recreation professional with extensive experience in municipal operations, program development, and facility management. Most recently, he served as Administrative Manager for the Town of Wilton, Connecticut’s Parks and Recreation Department, where he managed a nearly $2 million budget, oversaw a wide range of facilities and programs, and led a large workforce that included part-time and seasonal staff.
He has demonstrated success in improving operational efficiency, enhancing safety standards, and expanding community programming. His experience includes overseeing athletic fields and aquatic facilities, leading capital improvement projects, and implementing emergency action plans that improved response times and safety compliance.
Mr. Zulkeski holds a Master of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies, a Master of Public Administration in Emergency Management, and is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP).
Mayor Anne Lerner welcomed the new director:

Reflecting on his appointment, Mr. Zulkeski stated:

Park spaces and recreation opportunities are essential to bringing people together and strengthening communities. I look forward to working with the Mayor and Council, Team Tucker, and residents to continue enhancing Tucker’s parks, programs, and public spaces.”
Tucker’s Parks and Recreation Department is one of the City’s most visible and impactful departments, managing hundreds of acres of parkland, a wide range of recreational programs, and numerous community events that contribute to Tucker’s strong sense of identity and community pride.
