City Council Wrap Up – 7.13.26

Tucker’s Mayor and Council met Monday, July 13, 2026 for their first and only meeting of the month. Councilmember Roger Orlando was excused from attendance for being out of jurisdiction.
In celebration of July being National Recreation and Parks month, staff from the Parks and Recreation Department led the Pledge of Allegiance and received a proclamation from Council. Staff and volunteers for Friends of Disabled Adults and Children and Peter and Paul’s place received a proclamation in recognition of National Disability Pride month, as well.
After approval of pulling out items G 6-8 for discussion, Mayor and Council approved the consent agenda consisting of the previous month’s minutes and a letter of engagement for audit services for Fiscal Year 2026. The pulled items were acceptance of the Mayor’s appointments to various boards: Tucker Public Facilities Authority, Michelle Battle; Tucker Downtown Development Authority, Tommy Lester and Ted Rhinehardt; and to the Zoning Board of Appeals, Robin Biro.
The following were voting items approved by the Mayor and Council:
- Ordinance for a Special Land Use Permit (SLUP-26-0004) to allow a child day care facility for up to six (6) children at 2372 Midvale Circle
- Ordinance for a Special Land Use Permit (SLUP-26-0005) to allow additional building height at 4985 Lavista Road for applicant JW Tucker LLC
- Ordinance for a Zoning Modification (RZ-26-0001) and for a Special Land Use Permit (SLUP-26-0002) to allow a drive-through facility and a Concurrent Variance (CV-26-0001) to setback regulations at 4270 Lawrenceville Highway for Rocket Brew
- Resolution to renew the service delivery strategy for DeKalb County and the City of Tucker, Georgia
- Contract amendment with GA Power Company for Brockett Rd Sidewalk
- Contract with the Georgia Department of Transportation for Right of Way Acquisition for the Tucker-Northlake Trail
- Contract with the Georgia Department of Transportation for Right of Way Acquisition at Six Locations on Mountain Industrial Boulevard
- Contract to overhaul the Court/Council chambers AV system
The Council also held a first read and public hearing of an Ordinance to Amend the Comprehensive Plan to update the Transportation & Trails Master Plan.
There was no action taken after the executive session and the meeting adjourned.
