City Council Wrap-Up – 1.8.2024

Tucker’s Mayor and City Council started off the year of business with a special called meeting to administer oaths of office to the new and returning elected officials and the new City Manager. The 5:30 p.m. meeting was called to order followed by the Tucker High School JROTC presentation of colors and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Incumbent City Council Member District 1 Post 2, Virginia Rece was sworn in followed by District 2 Post 2 Vinh Nguyen, District 3 Post 2 Amy Trocchi and finally John McHenry, Tucker’s second City Manager.
The meeting was adjourned to celebrate with a small reception.
The first business meeting of the year was called to order at 7 p.m. After the Council voted to approve the evening’s agenda and the minutes from the December 11, 2023 meeting, they elected Councilmember Cara Schroeder as Mayor Pro-tem with a 6-1 vote. The role of the Mayor Pro-tem is to step in and run meetings should the Mayor ever be absent.
The other six items of business were contracts that were all approved unanimously:
- Consideration of a Contract Award for the I-285 @ Lawrenceville Hwy Landscape Installation Bid (ITB #2023-031)
- Consideration of Approval of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tucker-Northlake Community Improvement District for the I-285 @ Lawrenceville Hwy Landscape Installation
- Consideration of a Contract for Task Order #6 for Stormwater Repair – 3628 Castle Rock Way
- Consideration of a Contract for Task Order #9 for Stormwater Repair – 2119 Aldah Dr
- Consideration of a Contract for Task Order #11 for Stormwater Repair – 2401 Castleridge Ct
- An Intergovernmental Agreement with DeKalb County for funds toward Stormwater Repairs of Lake Erin Dam
The meeting was adjourned without Executive Session.
