Citizen of the Month – Luis Finley

Luis Finley and Mayor Anne Lerner

I would like to nominate Luis Finley to be highlighted as Tucker’s Citizen of the Month. Luis, does not actually live in Tucker, in that he does not have a residence here, but he may as well as he spends the majority of his waking hours (and some of his sleeping hours, too!) here serving the Tucker Community.

Luis is a partner and operator of The Local 7 and Ford’s BBQ. For over a decade Luis has served Tucker and made himself an honorary resident, but Tucker has become much more to him than the location of his businesses. Luis has invested in Tucker with delicious food and good service as well as organizing several Main Street festivals.

Prior to Tucker becoming a city, Luis and several downtown businesses created the Olde Towne Tucker Merchants Association to host and organize community fun. OTTMA hosted the annual Tucker Chili Cook-off and Christmas on Main and helped with the monthly car show as well as other community driven events like Taste of Tucker. Luis organized so many community events that once Tucker incorporated and wanted to start hosting events, it only made sense that he and OTTMA would partner up and help. Because of his help and support, the inaugural July 3 Celebration of Independence and Fireworks Spectacular was a huge success and laid the foundation for the growth of the entire TKR Summer of Fun series.

To add to it, he is kind and funny. He approaches all things in a calm manner and always finds a way to make everything fun. The Local 7 and Ford’s BBQ are successful beacons on Main Street because of his leadership, grace and hard work ethic. These strengths filter down to a staff that sticks around and has also become part of the Tucker family.

Luis is a prime example of how to lead while being a good human. It has been an honor and fun to work beside him all these years. We are all so excited to nominate him for Citizen of the Month.
