Tucker Launches 2nd Annual Advent Acts of Service

TUCKER, Ga. (November 25, 2019) – The City of Tucker’s Parks and Recreation Department is looking to spread some kindness this holiday season. On Monday, they launched their popular Advent Acts of Service campaign, encouraging residents to treat themselves and others in unique ways throughout the next 31 days.

“From letters to Santa to movie nights, we had such a spirited holiday season last year,” says Recreation Leader Crystal Dawson. “We’ve got even more fun ideas in store that we hope will improve our community, whether it’s an opportunity to show kindness to a stranger or help a family in need.”

The Advent Acts campaign kicked off today, with the community being invited to drop off a toy donation for the NETWorks Good Neighbor Shop. Donations can be made from now until December 6 at Tucker Recreation Center, City Hall or the City Hall Annex and donors can spread awareness by posting to social media with the hashtag #tkrcares.

“We know that Tucker has always been known as a community that cares for itself and each other,” says Mayor Frank Auman. “We know that you want opportunities to serve during the holiday season and so we’ve lined up all these possibilities where you can take part in any or all.

The community can keep up with the daily events throughout this Advent period by following the City’s Parks and Recreation Department on Facebook or by checking out the entire calendar at www.tuckerga.gov/actsofservice.
