Most of you know that Stone Mountain Park has undergone some big changes recently, but did you know there’s a strong Tucker connection? Herschend Family Entertainment was the original contractor to install and operate all the fun entertainment options like Crossroads, the Dinotorium and the Scenic Railroad, to name just a few. Their General Manager for the last several years is one of Tucker’s own, Mike Dombrowski. And when Herschend’s contract expired recently, Mike formed a new company and won the contract to manage all the amusement aspects!
After Gaye and I recently spent a fantastic day there with some of our grandkids, I talked with Mike about building a closer relationship between Tucker and the biggest tourist attraction in Georgia (in fact, did you know Stone Mountain Park is the second biggest tourist attraction in the Southeastern United States, behind only Disney World?). So many of our folks visit there regularly already, and we’d really like their other guests to know and visit Tucker while they’re in the area. So we planned a special day!
Saturday August 27 is Tucker Community Day at Stone Mountain Park. Residents of Tucker can purchase a deeply discounted package for Tucker Community Day. The package includes an Attractions Pass plus access to the Lasershow Spectacular. Spend the day with your neighbors enjoying family-friendly attractions like Dinosaur Explore, Geyser Towers, Summit Skyride, and more. Then end the evening with the Lasershow Spectacular, featuring lights, iconic music, lasers, fireworks, and flame cannons! Wear your Tucker shirts and hats, bring a picnic and sit on the lawn to meet new neighbors and make new friends. On a regular day the attractions pass and Lasershow seating are $40. For this day only, Tucker residents will be able to have an entire day of fun for only $10 plus the cost of parking. Attractions are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the Lasershow starts at 9:30 p.m.
This event has quickly come together and I am pleased with the partnership we are fostering and hope to continue into the future by making this an annual event. Grab your neighbors and friends, and my family will see yours there!
