How did you end up here in Tucker? I have a decade of experience within the IT field with different roles and responsibilities. I was recruited by a former colleague to join InterDev, the contractor handling IT and GIS services for the City of Tucker.
What are your responsibilities in the IT department? It begins with maintenance and support for all technical infrastructure, hardware and system software components. I am responsible for the configuring and debugging of system software/hardware for user support. I deploy timely patches to critical systems, as well as ensure disaster and recovery methods are properly configured and performing optimally. Ultimately, it’s my job to provide ways to improve IT processes and business activities to make the City more efficient.
How do you stay up to speed on changing technological trends? Staying current is not an easy task. I use a three-pronged strategy. First, I set-up alerts from various agencies, vendors and organizations to keep me abreast of the latest trends. Secondly, I try to watch tutorials and leverage my team members. Third, I try to attend industry-specific conferences to focus on new, innovative technology solutions and training throughout the year.
What should people know about security for their own devices? Protect all your devices with secure passcode or fingerprint recognition. Stay away from unsecure networks. Try connecting your devices to secure network connections like VPN, private Wi-Fi and personal hotspots from your mobile devices. Be mindful of malicious apps and websites. Always verify the content is from a legitimate source.
Why do you enjoy your career in IT? The technology industry is a vast field and interconnects with every other industry. The IT field is a rewarding field to provide service to others.

Where would we find you when you’re not at work? I like to spend time with extended family and friends. I enjoy time in the gym, volunteer at a health clinic and read.
What’s your favorite movie? Rudy is one of my favorite movies of all time. The main character, Rudy, portrays the power of dreams and outcomes of hard work and determination. The movie is a microcosm of the American Dream.
What is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to you? Being a first-generation high school graduate in my family and obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree.
What is the sports team you love to hate? Hate is such a strong word. I don’t like dislike any sports team, I just root for Atlanta sports teams.
